TACURONG CITY -- The City Government of Tacurong and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Monday launched the Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing NCII training. The skills training which will benefit 149 tricycle drivers and out-of-school youth was the first project in Sultan Kudarat funded through Bottom-Up Budgeting or BUB, according to TESDA Provincial Director Reynaldo Bernal. The beneficiaries are from the different barangays in the Tacurong City. Alberto Sero Sr, Tacurong City Local Government Operations Officer was also happy to note that Tacurong was one of the earliest local government units in Region XII to implement projects under the 2015 BUB programs. BUB is formerly known as Grassroots Participatory Budgeting program. The budget for the training, downloaded to TESDA by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), will be used by the former to pay for the training expenses amounting to more than P5,000 per trainee. TESDA identified Centerpoint College of Arts and Sciences as the training center since it is the only school in the city offering Small Engine Servicing. In addition to the free training, participants who will complete the program shall receive allowance from the city government. They will also receive free toolkits that they can use to start their own economic enterprise.
